Job Summary

We are looking for a candidate who is a highly responsible eager team player who communicates well with coworkers, customers, management, and is someone who takes pride in all aspects of their life. They need to demonstrate a safe and professional track record while operating various forklifts and delivery trucks. We have a wide variety of delivery trucks in our fleet – we strive to keep our trucks as up to date and as well maintained as possible.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver materials in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Pickup returns from job sites (inquire about returns when on job sites, write up all/any returns on site, give carbon copy to site contact). 
  • Assist in loading delivery trucks to ensure proper load balance and security.
  • Truck Inspections.
  • Put away returns when available/applicable.
Secondary Responsibilities

Time between deliveries or when there are no deliveries

  • Helping customers load their purchases in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner.
  • Assist in building orders of construction materials as ordered using forklifts when not delivering materials.
  • Receive material by unloading vendor trucks and verifying counts for accuracy.
  • Put away received materials in a safe and secure location (mark product with appropriate customer information).
  • Maintain a clean and safe warehouse and lumber yard.
  • Restock building materials as needed.
  • Perform general maintenance and small repairs on vehicles, forklifts, equipment, and buildings as needed.
  • Move snow in the wintertime using a variety of equipment including shovels, snowblower, and snowplows. 
  • Backup other positions as needed and directed by Management.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Management

Education

  • High School Diploma preferred, but previous work experience will suffice.

Experience

  • Previous experience working with construction materials preferred.

Requirements

  • COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE Class B or above without restrictions required (we operate manual trucks with air brakes).
  • Clean Driving Record.
  • DOT Health card or ability to get within 1 month of employment (Company Provided).

Skills and Competencies

  • Good Customer Service Skills (On job site and in the yard)
  • Operate a boom truck to deliver loads to multiple locations and to various structures (training provided as needed) in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Operate a piggyback forklift truck when and where required (training provided as needed) in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Technological aptitude.
  • Proficient in reading a pick ticket to build orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner when needed.
  • Ability to be certified in operating forklifts – certification will be provided 
  • Ability to adapt on the fly as needed, especially during the busier portion of the building season.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

  • Work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions. 
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects more than 50 lbs.  
  • Ability to adapt between sitting frequently for varying periods of time and hauling materials of different sizes, weights, and fragility as the job demands.
